Federal judge promises quick ruling on Virginia's ban on gay marriage
Tue Feb 4, 2014
How about taking government out of marriage instead of each "side" trying to use government to force their concept of marriage down the other side's throats? Government always discriminates when they try to regulate something - it's the very nature of the beast. Get rid of all the marriage laws and …

Wed Jan 22, 2014
It's too late to make a dent when they arrive at college. The culture is already set - drink heavily or drug yourself, sexually tease (both ways), and let go of your inhibitions.
Guns in the home raise suicide, homicide risk, review confirms
Mon Jan 20, 2014
A review of "high quality" studies already published. Wow - breaking news here! How many years ago were these studies published? What defined them as "high quality" as compared to other studies on the subject? What were the original findings versus the findings cited in the r …
Supreme Court skeptical of 'buffer zone' outside clinics providing abortions
Wed Jan 15, 2014
Very one way discussion here. Obviously, it's more equal than the comments would indicate, or the Supreme Court wouldn't be taking the case. It has almost always been legal to freely express any viewpoint and hand out leaflets on public sidewalks - which is what is being addressed in this case.

Sexism part of military academy culture, Pentagon report says
Sat Jan 11, 2014
These attitudes and culture didn't develop when these 19 year-olds started attending military academies - they were learned before they were even admitted. I've been a substitute teacher in high schools, and this type of behavior goes on every day.
Supreme Court schedules hearing on birth control mandate
Wed Jan 8, 2014
The problem is that starting next year (it was delayed one year, remember), employers of more than 50 full-time employees are required by law to provide ACA-compliant insurance for their employees. So the law is in fact requiring business owners to go against their religious beliefs. The …

Tue Jan 7, 2014
Johnny B The Democratic agenda is to take from those who have little interest in big government, and give it to those who will vote for them. Helping the poor and needy is always difficult because separating the deserving poor from the undeserving poor takes direct investment of time and energy.
Military insurer reconsiders denying obesity surgery for Texas girl
Thu Jan 2, 2014
From what little I can see, and as head of a family under Tricare, this could have been easily resolved with a little extra effort on the part of either/both the referring doctor and the Tricare reviewer. The reviewer could have picked up the phone and called the doctor and asked if there was …
